All major Remository pages are now in Joomla style views (or layouts), so that you can override them via Joomla template overrides. Likewise the CSS can be overriden. The Remository language definitions have migrated from the old style "defines" to .ini files. Again, these can be overriden. Unfortunately, the transition means that the numerous translations are not currently available. Currently French language is provided. Offers to translate into other languages welcome.

Please note particularly that the configuration page for admin has been replaced by the use of Joomla "Options". It is advisable to review the options and save any changes before going into live use.

overall, this is a great tool.

Just one thing that i can't figure out, does this tools don't allow download for public user or i just miss the configuration for it. can somebody tell me.

Owner's reply: Thanks! For each folder (container) in Remository, you can specify which group(s) can upload and which can download. Any combination of groups is possible, including "Visitor" which means people not logged in.

This is a great tool and strongly recommend it. For those you say that ads cannot be blocked, please check the configuration settings in J Admin. Great job and thumbs up to the developer!

Thanks for a great component

After a few hours I realized with this component and I now have three large file downloads which one of them is as large as 275.4 Mb

A very usefull extension, giving a professional look and feel.

I particularly like the file containers privilege system and the ability to choose between Joomla authorization levels or creating Remository own user groups and privileges.

The one thing that would make even better would be an option to hide containers (and files) from unauthorized users on a case by case base; indeed, one does not not want everyone to check the full catalogue of available files on the site, even if they cannot download them.

Another nice feature is the possibility to choose for its own ads code to appear (or not). Thanks!

First off I would like to say that this is by no means a bad component. It has a loads of options, the most I have ever seen in a file manager.



With that said, it is not without its issues.



One of the biggest problems I have had is files moving out of there folders and being placed in the root directory where my site files are located.



I know its a setting somewhere but still....It should have an option to select whether the Remository is allowed to move the files or not.



Also I couldn't seem to update the file counts.



It is a good component but it will take some time to learn what does what.

Remository is a good extension. It works well and do a good job. I prefer it from Docman or others..

Have an excellent SEO/SEF and works like a charm.

What i dont like is the Graphics (front and backend), and the support for 3rd party components..

yes is rigth that some integration are already in the code (Jomcomment support) but every update is a work. So should be better when he will support 3d party ext. (from backend not hacking the code) jcomments and others, alphauserpoints... And have a template manager, more fields, metadata via frontend upload...

I was going to rate this 5 stars but then when I uploaded a track for the game I played there was a huge advertising window popup which has totally put me off using it. I would prefer for a Commercial version and donate to have that aspect removed.



Can this be done? Or is there a box saying click here for no rubbish pop ups? Its an eye sore.

Absolute junk. I have used it for some time, but am removing it completely. The developers seem to feel that their Open Source standards for the Remository project are more important than making a functional component. Please, lets respect tradition instead of trying to enforce our own standards. Name the component com_*, get a readable support forum, put upgrade instructions on the site, if many J1.5 implementations are having trouble unpackaging .tgz files, for god sakes upload a ZIP rather than tell users to research "weaknesses in the Joomla installer by following the menu link to the PHP-Ace "Blog""!
Owner's reply: I'm sorry you think that way, many people find Remository highly functional. Does it matter what the package's file name is, so long as it is plainly Remository? Most people seem to be able to read the forum. Upgrade instructions are included in the FAQs on the Remository site. Releasing Remository as zip has been tried, but the Joomla installer is unpredictable, and neither zip nor tar.gz installations work consistently for everyone - some have problems with one, some with the other. Telling people about fixes for Joomla bugs is done in order to be helpful - they don't affect only Remository.

Apart from its look or CSS; Remository has everything that is needed for a download site. With a small hack in the language file I changed the name of a tab 'File Homepage' to 'Demo' and i changed "click to visit site" to "click for a demo". Job finished. Small thing but made my site better which deals with Joomla extensions. easily viewers can have a look at Demo now. Great Job but Kindly come out with some sexy theme.
