Introduction
Two-factor authentication - TFA / MFA for Joomla sites. When you log in (authenticate) to your Joomla site with a username and password, TFA / MFA plugin adds a second level/layer of authentication security, by checking your selected 2FA method.
Two Factor Authentication - TFA / MFA
TFA integrates with Joomla as a base plugin and provides well-tested and flexible interfaces to let you choose from a wide range of two-factor authentication solutions, including Time-based One-Time Passwords (TOTP), Yubikey, pre-generated codes, and integrations with third-party authentication services like Google, Authy, Duo, Okta, and more.

Our TFA plugin supports more than 15 authentication methods along with their backup method. 2FA supports Device Identification. If the user selects Remember device then on the next login from the same device, the user will not be prompted for Two Factor.
It is very difficult to log in to your site from the mobile browser with Two Factor enabled. We provide you with the option that will convert any authentication method into Security Questions (KBA) on a mobile browser.
MiniOrange Two Factor Authentication (TFA) is a third-party extension for Joomla that provides more robust security measures than the default Joomla Two-factor Authentication.
Compared to Joomla's built-in 2FA, **MiniOrange TFA **offers superior security features and a larger selection of methods to authenticate. It offers users greater flexibility, ease of use, and security with features like role-based 2FA, backup security questions, and language support. For those looking for improved security measures for their Joomla site, the option for passwordless login and the flexibility to create 2FA methods make it a user-friendly option.
In addition, if you have any problems setting up the 2FA method, the miniOrange Joomla team will assist you.
What is MFA and what is TFA?
MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) and 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) are often used interchangeably, but technically there is a difference between the two.
Using two factors of authentication to verify a user's identity is known as 2FA, a subset of multifactor authentication. A security token or a text message with a verification code is typically required in addition to something you know (like a password).
Two or more factors of authentication are used in multifactor authentication to verify a user's identity. It could be something that you know (like a password), something you have (like a security token or a mobile device), or something you are (like fingerprints or facial recognition).
So, while 2FA uses two factors of authentication, MFA is more.

- Google Authenticator

- Duo Authenticator

What is Passwordless Login (Sign-in) (Authentication) to Joomla:-
Passwordless Login (Sign-in) (Authentication) allows users to log in without the need of remembering a password. Instead of a conventional username and password, users enter their mobile phone number or email address to receive a one-time code (one-time password) or link on their phone number or their email address, which they can then use for login.
