Admin Tools Professional is a comprehensive security enhancing component and site administration toolkit for your Joomla!™ site. We were the first component to offer a triple layer of security for your site: active server security with our .htaccess, NginX Conf and Web.Config Maker; active application security with our Web Application Firewall; passive security with our PHP File Change Scanner which detects new, modified and deleted files on your site and assesses them for signs of malicious intent. Functionality

I set up the firewall and used the scanner once so that it will know in future which files are modifed. Looks good so far.

Ease of use

Firewall and scanner are easy to set up and use. I restored my htaccess file from a backup as the htaccess maker requires more time.

Support

The author responded quickly to my question and the reply was helpful.

Documentation

The author's website has several good videos which makes use of the product much easier.

Value for money

Prevention is better than cure. Just think how much of your time will be wasted if you website gets hacked.

I used this to: A couple of Joomla websites. I wish I installed this sooner as then the scanner would have made a note of pristine Joomla files, rather than ones that had been on the Internet for some time. The first scan is used as a baseline to see what is modified in the future.

You made an excellent point about the .htaccess Maker. Indeed, it requires more time. It's based on the concept of "nothing is accessible on my site unless I explicitly allow it". While the default configuration is enough for the majority of sites, we do recommend going through its documentation at your leisure and plan the rules you are going to enable once you understand what they do.

Once you get it right, the .htaccess Maker configuration can add a very strong layer of protection to your site against many different attacks. We've recently seen sites where an attacker managed to upload a malicious file through a third party script which was bypassing Joomla's and Admin Tools' protections, and yet the site wasn't hacked because the .htaccess Maker rules made it impossible for the attacker to run that malicious file. As you said, prevention is always better :)

Very complex matter, you can easily exclude yourself, absolutely necessary to read the manual.

Support

Top support from highly skilled people is a must, and is also a complex matter.

Documentation

Clear and very extensive description and documentation and videos, but necessary to read and view.

Value for money

Safety and security for only 100€ (backup and admin tools) and this for an unlimited number of sites, you don't have to think about that!

Functionality

I have been using this component for many years and Nicolas amazes me with his knowledge every time.

Ease of use

I know most of the tools now and the consistent interface is easy to use

Support

Found a bug and reported one evening recently, the following day a couple of suggestions, then on the site fixing it. New release next day!

Documentation

Always in depth and clear. It's a library of information and I learn something every time I don't understand some of the latest risks.

Value for money

I'm safe - what's that worth? More than I pay him :-) I am very sure of that, that's why I stick with this component.

Functionality

With the one click setup option, it makes this very easy to setup. Especially when you're new to this plugin.

Support

Every comment or question asked are answered in good time. I have had no issues to report so far, the component is without bugs.

Great value - compare peace of mind to hours it takes to sort out a hacked or breached website. very affordable

I used this to: Sehr gut ist der Überblick, den man direkt über die Administrationsumgebung von Joomla erhält. Es entfällt damit eine zusätzliche Administration der Sicherheit der Webseite über einen Zweitanbieter im Netz.

Functionality

This thing does what it says - and more (it never promised my site would be faster, way faster).

Ease of use

There is a lot to a web application firewall which affords this kind of versatility and specificity. Worth the effort.

Support

Their support from / ticket system got me a couple very fast responses. (They admit they can be 'direct.' I'll say.)

Documentation

It's in there. All of it. Except the part where your website will get faster. Way faster.

Value for money

It's a chunk of change, but you can deploy it on all your Joomla sites - and for what I needed it for? A bargain.

I used this to: A server some of my sites are on got hacked - and we used this to lock down the Joomla sites while we zeroed in on the problem. (The breach was Russian in origin, via a Wordpress site.) I'm going to install the pro version of ATP for Wordpress next. High quality product, this.

Provides all that it claims to, plus more.....namely a sense of higher security that allows to relax for a beer or two on weekends!

A lot of documentation both within the application as well as online provides a wealth of information. And so much of it is automated.

One of the best I have experienced with Joomla products. Just make certain that you provide the correct information when you submit.
